Bastas Celebrates 20 Years of History!

Chef Marco Frattaroli resurrects menu favorites – and prices – from 1992

Portland, Oregon [January 6, 2012] - In today’s culinary landscape, chefs battle for fame on television shows and hot new restaurants have a five year shelf life, so when an Italian restaurant in bustling Northwest Portland celebrates its 20th anniversary, there’s a good reason why. That reason is Chef Marco Frattaroli’s unwavering commitment to honest Italian cooking, guided by principles and tradition, not trends.

To celebrate the storied history of this Portland landmark, throughout 2012 Bastas is bringing back favorite dishes from past menus, starting with their original 1992 menu… including the 1992 price.

The historic Bastas menu item will change weekly, and kicks off with housemade pancetta and sage wrapped chicken skewers served over creamy polenta for $6.95 on January 6th – Bastas original opening day. Specials will be announced each week, so to stay up on dates and dishes, follow Bastas Trattoria on Facebook or sign up for the email list at www.bastastrattoria.com.

A self-taught chef hailing from Italy, Frattaroli opened Bastas Trattoria in 1992 with lines out the door. “Many of those customers are regulars to this day, as are their children now with families of their own,” says Frattaroli, alluding to the devoted cult-like fanbase that Frattaroli has built over the years. Twenty years later and after various iterations, Bastas Trattoria remains a neighborhood favorite and an example of what hard work and unerring principles bring to the table: longevity and authenticity.

Bastas is located at 410 NW 21st Portland, Oregon 97209. For more information or to make reservations, call Bastas at (503) 274-1572 or visit www.bastastrattoria.com.
