Chehalem Winery Unveils Wine-on-Tap Program
Newberg, Ore., June 9, 2011 – Chehalem Winery has unveiled a fresh and sustainable approach to enjoying their wine… direct from the barrel! In celebration of the 25th harvest anniversary release, Chehalem has launched a new wine-on-tap program in their tasting room - the first of its kind in the Northern Willamette Valley.
Visitors to Chehalem’s Tasting Room can purchase a one-liter branded bottle for a $5 deposit, then fill up with either the just-released 2009 3 Vineyard Pinot Noir ($27.00) or the 2010 INOX Chardonnay ($17.00), offering wine lovers a first taste of the 2010 INOX vintage.
“The new refillable bottles are not only easier on the earth, they’re an amazing value,” says Chehalem winemaker Harry Peterson-Nedry, referring to the 33% more wine the new liter bottles hold at the same price as a 750ml bottle. “It’s our way of encouraging people to reuse the bottles over and over again.”
Wines on-tap are on the rise, with both consumers and businesses benefiting from the savings of reduced packaging. This isn’t the first time Chehalem wines will pour from a keg, several Portland restaurants feature Chehalem wines on tap, selling it by the glass and carafe.
Wine-on-tap is available at Chehalem’s Tasting Room located at 106 South Center Street,
Newberg, OR 97132. Tasting room hours are everyday from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm. For more information call the tasting room at (503) 538-4700 or visit the website at www.chehalemwines.com.
