Looking for the Perfect Portland New Year’s Eve Plan?

Check out great menus from Clyde Common, Nostrana, The Original Dinerant, and The Painted Lady

(Dec. 16, 2011) Portland, OR – This year at Watershed, we’ve had a bit of trouble making up our minds about how best to ring in the New Year. Thankfully, we are lucky enough to have a fantastic variety of clients to solve our predicament—and hopefully yours as well.

Clyde Common

If you’re looking for something low-key and a little swanky, Clyde Common might be your scene. Rumor has it that NYE menu specials will feature foie gras and caviar, and of course, bartender Jeffery Morgenthaler will concoct a spirited prosecco punch. We also advise that you order one of his trend-setting carbonated cocktails, served chilled in individual bottles so that you can open them with a celebratory “pop!” We never promised that your night wouldn’t end up a little bigger and better than you planned.

Clyde Common / 1014 Southwest Stark St., Portland, OR 97205

Reservations recommended for parties of 6 or more, please call 503.228.3333 or visit www.clydecommon.com.

Nostrana

If “New Year’s Eve in Italy” is more your style, Cathy Whims and Nostrana’s fantastic team are offering a special four-course menu that promises to ring in 2012 with a most memorable start. Begin the night with an amuse bouche so amusing it is a secret, and enjoy some of Nostrana’s most loved antipasti misti dishes. For your pasta, choose between taglionio with fonduta or oxtail and celery root ravioli —both of which are accompanied by truffles if available—and for your entrée choose between more carnivorous options like beef braciole, oven-roasted trout with wild mushrooms, or roasted capon rotolo stuffed with apricots, pancetta, and hazelnuts. The finish is sweet with zablione & krumiri cookies or a gianduja sundae while you toast “felice anno nuovo!” to your special someone.

Nostrana / 1401 SE Morrison Portland, OR 97214
Reservations required, the set menu will cost $75 per person with the option to add wine pairings for an additional fee. Please call 503.234.242 or visit

The Original Dinerant

For those looking for a swinging all-night party that starts with dinner and ends with hangover brunch, The Original is the spot. Its 1970’s disco-themed party is a great place to park all night, or even to stop in for a quick bite en route to another party. Special New Year’s Eve dishes include duck a l’orange with savory rice pudding, lobster pop’overs with cerliac and chanterelles, prime rib roast with madeira sauce and oysters on the half shell. For those also staying for the party from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., The Original will provide a dessert bar, two cocktails and, of course, a champagne toast at midnight for $40 per person ($10 donated to Ecotrust’s Food and Farms program).

The Painted Lady

For a romantic wine country New Year’s Eve celebration that pulls out all the stops, we recommend The Painted Lady’s seven-course New Year’s Eve dinner. Located in the heart of Newberg and set in a beautiful Victorian home, The Painted Lady is the first Oregon restaurant to receive the AAA Four Diamond Status. The special seasonal menu will feature an amuse, Dungeness crab, slow roasted steelhead, surf and turf, intermezzo and an assortment of chocolate and fruit to finish. Wine pairings are available, and vegetarian menus are available upon request. Your job? Bring your loved one to eat, drink and be merry.
