Oregon Breweries Take Home 15 Medals At The

2011 Great American Beer Festival

 

PORTLAND, Ore. (October 3, 2011) – Oregon breweries claimed a total of 15 medals at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) held September 29 – October 1 in Denver, CO.  Oregon Breweries brought home four gold medals, four silver medals and seven bronzes, placing the state third for the total number of medals won.  Breweries in six of Oregon’s seven regions earned medals.  The city of Bend led the way with six medals, followed by Portland with three medals, Baker City and Newport with two each, and Hood River and Eugene with one each.

The GABF is the world’s largest beer competition and recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States today. The top three medalists in each of the competition’s 83 beer-style categories were announced October 1st at the 30th Great American Beer Festival Awards Ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center.  The 2011 Great American Beer Festival Competition winners were selected by an international panel of 167 brewing experts from an impressive field of 3,930 entries received from 526 U.S. breweries.
